The hot new trend in digital scrap-booking is undoubtedly the Facebook Photo Collage, which is an easy way to bring all your memories together in one visual tableau for all your friends to see. While you could slap one together manually using an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop, that approach isn’t as full-featured and flexible as some would like it to be. A better option would be to use a dedicated application like Loupe to do the heavy lifting for you. With Loupe, you can easily compile a timeless collage online that will stand out.
Basically, Loupe is a web-based application that allows anyone to select photos from a variety of locations online and arrange them creatively to make custom collages that can be posted to Facebook. The photo creations you pull together can be laid out in a number of different shapes, and you can even edit the exact placement of specific pictures to put your personal touch on your collage. Alternatively, you can let the application take care of the details and arrange your chosen photos randomly for a more casual look.
Features & Benefits
One of the biggest selling points of Loupe is choice. It allows you to pick from one of over 70 shapes such as clovers, stars, stick figures, animals and more. It also features in-app search for scrounging pictures off the web from a number of different places, including your own Facebook albums, other user’s Tumblr blogs, Instagram profiles, Twitter, specific websites or just Bing Images. For a better idea of what’s possible with Loupe, check out their gallery to look at user-created collages and photo collections.
How To Create Collages with Loupe
To get started, head to the “Create page” and click “New”. You’ll be prompted to select your desired photos from your Facebook profile URL, Twitter or a custom location. You can choose to either import all of the photos found in a particular album or select photos one by one. Once you’ve pulled in all the pictures you want to include, you’ll have to select a shape for your collage. To get a random assortment, slide the shape selector at the top of the page all the way to the left and pick the rectangle at the end.
Best part is, you can even make collage from custom text. See below, I’ve make collage from text “Goospoos”. So now if you want to say “I Love You” or any custom message, you can do it with style.
Saving, Sharing & Exploring
At present, the sharing options of Loupe are a touch limited. You have essentially three choices: you can post the collage to your Wall on Facebook, slap it in a Facebook album or use a URL to share the collage with your buddies. The last option is a great way to create collaborative collages, as other users who visit the URL can edit it themselves. In order to delete photos or move them, click the yellow “Edit” button on the left and select the pictures you want to re-position or throw in the trash.
Probably the best thing about Loupe is its price, which is zero. It’s amazing that such an application is offered free of charge on the web for any and all users who want to make use of its services. You’ll need to play around with it a bit to discover all its various capabilities and nuances, but it’ll be time well spent if you love collages and sharing memories with friends and loved ones. Once sharing options are improved to expand beyond Facebook Walls, Loupe could well become a household name.
