Google Grabs Picnik To Dominate Online Image Editing Market

Google-PicnikIn last post, I demonstrated comparison of  9 best online image editors. Of course Picnik was there on the list with some bullet points like very popular, refreshing user experience but limited functionality for free edition. Now, news is coming like Google has acquired Picnik. This acquisition was not a surprise as earlier in October Google had announced for regular interval acquisitions. Let us check who will get what in this win-win deal,

What Picnik will achieve? Thriving potential to grow.

What Google will achieve out of this? Existing loyal user base of extra ordinary product.

What you will get out of this? Hmm.. Nothing. Yes as of now no immediate changes. But personally what I expect from Google is to make this service totally free and to add few more valuable features. It would be great if Google finds out some organic way of generating revenue rather than asking for 2$ a month subscription fee.

Here, One more interesting equation is getting formed. As Yahoo owned Flicker is quite dependent on Picnik for photo editing. So, It would be interesting to see next move from Yahoo. Yahoo already commented on this deal, It is ‘No Comments!’. Well that was the reply from Yahoo when TechCrunch contacted for the response.
