Internet And Broadband User Statistics – India v/s World

internet-statsIn this study of internet and broadband penetration analysis, I’ve included top 5 countries having the largest number of internet users across the world. Though this study is about top 5 countries, we will be more interested in India’s internet and broadband user analysis against that of other top 4 countries. This analysis can be helpful to internet entrepreneurs as well as bloggers and startup companies working in the web services domain.

The study includes China, USA, Japan, India and Brazil internet user statistics. These countries have the largest number of internet users in that order. Though China is leading with 360 million total internet users, because of their government policies, you can’t see much impact on the web world around the globe. At second place and having the most active users, US leads the whole web world with innovations and the most successful startups. USA internet users are totaling to 227 million users against that of 307 million total population – that’s 74.1% penetration.

Compared to these top 4 countries, India’s internet penetration is very low. Total internet users are 81 million against total population of 1.1 billion people. And total broadband users are 5 millions only. Starting any India centric web service is not so good idea for now. But it’s the most rapidly growing market. From 2000 to 2009, growth in the internet users is 1520% and that’s very good sign of future. Contradicting my statement above, I can say, this is the right time to start any service so that you can have head start to others.

Let’s have a look at numbers. You can derive your decisions based on that.
