Daniel Ek: Spotify CEO’s Advice For Startups And Entrepreneurs
In less then a year, Swedish music-streaming company Spotify has changed the face of music industry. Over 2 million users in the UK alone. Over 6 million songs in the catalogue and adding more 10,000 songs every day. The CEO Daniel Ek is 26 years old(Only!!). Daniel started his journey as an entrepreneur at the age of 14 and now he is the 3rd most influential person in the tech world. At Glasshouse event, Daniel shared some great thoughts on Entrepreneurship, Funding, Economics and Networking in very few but practical words.
Virginia Eastman from Heidrick & Struggles‘ interviewed Ek in the London Office.
Eastman asked about funding, Angel investors and teams with great ideas.
Ek was affirmative about angel investors saying “They bring a network of resources with them and valuable experience. But choose them wisely”
“There will be lot of confusion and sceptics, but believe in yourself and do the work” advised Ek.
“Don’t be to optimistic and think practically about economics. Keep your costs low and be sensible”
“Feedback is very important and pay attention to it. Also listen to smart people who had already proved their metal in the business. Because they have vast and practical knowledge of the industry”
